My family and I spent the week of the Fourth of July on beautiful Lake Gaston in Halifax County, North Carolina. The lake itself is a wonderful place to beat the heat, have fun, and take beautiful pictures. We did all three of those things, but a highlight was celebrating America’s independence in Littleton. If you have ever watched the Andy Griffith show and wondered if small towns like Mayberry still exist, you can find your answer in the one-stoplight town of Littleton. Each year, the community comes together for a parade that is full of patriotism and smiles. Along with kids of all ages, the parade includes Betsy Ross and Uncle Sam. This year, the Littleton Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Family Fun Day after the parade as well. Of course, the fireworks on Lake Gaston always provide a spectacular ending to a wonderful holiday celebration and this year was no different! Thanks for the welcome and the fun times! We’ll be back!
