When Brittany and Jason decided to have a formal wedding, they purposefully chose to keep it small. This down to earth couple understands the meaning of the day. It’s not about attendants, long dresses with a cathedral length trains, or singers. It is about a guy and a girl in love and God’s blessings on their marriage. Keeping with the simplistic theme, they decorated with daffodils planted many years ago by Brittany’s great-grandmother on the Daffodil Farm. A beautiful, simple, lace dress made by Brittany’s aunt was just the right choice.
When Brittany and her mom asked me to photograph the event, I was honored. In the pre-wedding consultation, I asked for a list of “must have” pictures. There were two. Just two. Brittany wanted a picture of the groom as he saw her for the first time and of her and her dad as they walked down the aisle. That should be simple enough, except for one thing. The church, McKendree United Methodist, has about 10 rows of pews. I knew that meant I would have one chance for each picture before the bride would be at the alter…. no pressure for the photographer! (It might be helpful to mention, I probably get more nervous than any bride at weddings, because I take my job very seriously.) Luckily, I was able to get both of the pictures requested, and they are gorgeous. There is no doubt that Jason and Brittany were full of joy! It shows. It was a beautiful wedding for a sweet couple starting a wonderful life together.
And just for the record, we got many more great photos. Some of which were from the list that grew in conversations with the bride and groom. Stay tuned to the facebook page for sneak peeks.
