Outdoor Portrait on Black

Recently I noticed a post by Digital Photography School in my newsfeed explaining how you can created a low key portrait on a black background while outside in daylight.  I didn’t believe it was possible, so I had to try it myself.  Below are the results.  It’s not a perfect low key portrait, but it is pretty good for a first try. Follow the link to the Digital Photography School for directions to try it yourself.

Camera settings:  ISO 100, f/9.0, 1/125, Speedlight flash on ETTL in fluted umbrella (camera left)
